Tom Slefinger
Senior Vice President, Market Strategist, Alloya Corporate FCU
As Alloya’s Market Strategist, Tom Slefinger leverages nearly 40 years of investment strategy expertise to deliver insightful commentary on the economy and market events to optimize balance sheet performance at the credit union level. With thousands of subscribers, Tom’s daily and weekly publications are widely read amongst credit union executives.
Prior to becoming the corporate’s Market Strategist, Tom served as the Senior Vice President of Institutional Fixed Income Sales at Alloya Investment Services, a division of Alloya Solutions, LLC. In this role, Tom developed and managed operations associated with institutional fixed income sales in addition to developing investment portfolio strategies, identifying appropriate sectors and securities, and optimizing portfolio performance at the credit union level.
Tom holds a B.S. in business administration from the University of Maine. In addition, he holds a Series 7 and 63 through ISI.
John Almeida, CFA
Institutional Fixed Income Sales Representative, Alloya Investment Services
With more than 20 years of experience as a top producer in the field of credit union investments, John’s focus since 2004 has been providing value-added advice, service and products exclusively to credit unions. As an Institutional Fixed Income Sales Representative, he collaborates directly with CEOs and CFOs to identify, recommend and implement client-based, risk-appropriate portfolio strategies and securities.
Prior to joining Alloya Investment Services, John served as Senior Investment Representative at Credit Union Brokerage Services. He began his career as a Financial Advisor with UBS Financial Services, Inc. in Boston.
John holds a B.A. from the University of Vermont and an M.B.A. from Boston College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and member of The Boston Security Analysts Society, Inc. and the CFA Institute. John holds his Series 7 and 66 through ISI.
Jim Olney
Vice President, Payments Strategy, Alloya Corporate FCU
As Vice President of Payments Strategy, Jim Olney provides research and analytical expertise to support the strategic decisions of Alloya. Olney joined the corporate in 1989 and has held roles in research and development, innovation, product management and strategic initiatives, all with an emphasis on payment services. He is involved in the planning and execution of many of Alloya’s payment initiatives related to check processing, faster payments and new product offerings. Olney’s strong analytical background is useful in researching and analyzing payment trends, such as real-time payments, person-to-person (P2P), cryptocurrency and fraud, to define insights that position credit unions for the future.
Melissa Pomeroy
Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Cooperative Credit Union Association
Currently serving as EVP and Chief Operating Officer at the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA), Melissa Pomeroy works closely with credit unions, associations, partners, and fintechs to build strong relationships that empower credit unions to grow, innovate, and navigate an ever-changing market. She facilitates strategic planning and data journey sessions for credit unions of all sizes, guiding them in expanding their membership and strengthening their impact.
Before joining CCUA, Melissa managed a team of project managers and data analysts at St. Mary’s Bank, the Nation’s First Credit Union. While there, she spearheaded an initiative to develop and implement an enterprise data warehouse, positioning the credit union as one of the first to embrace a data-driven approach. Melissa continues to leverage her expertise to support partners and credit unions in utilizing data for informed decision-making and operational efficiency.
Prior to entering the credit union ecosystem, Melissa spent many years consulting, overseeing technology and strategy projects in the healthcare industry, as well as for federal and state agencies across the country.
Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Lafayette College and a Master of Science in operations research from The George Washington University. She resides in Concord, NH with her husband, teenaged son, and two dogs. A recently retired baseball coach, Melissa still enjoys supporting her son’s teams and spending as much time as possible golfing (poorly), cooking, skiing and traveling.
